What makes a hackathon worth running

Most hackathons end with a leaderboard and a group photo. A good one ends with something still running a month later.

The measure of a hackathon is not how many people attended. It is how many projects exist six weeks afterwards.

That changes how you design the event. You choose themes with real users behind them. You put mentors on the floor, not on a panel. You judge on a working demo and the quality of the code, not the polish of the pitch.

And you plan the after: a repository, a channel, a follow-up meetup where teams show what they built next. The weekend is only the ignition.
